Standard:

Students know that contractions of the heart generate blood pressure and that heart valves prevent backflow of blood in the circulatory system.

Student Learning Objectives

After textbook and online orientation to the blood flow through the heart, the students will create a map and a story showing at least 6 different sites where blood interact with the heart.
Students will be able to draw a diagram of the human heart with 80% accuracy.

The student will investigate the directional flow of the heart's blood by comparing the picture on pg 236 ofthe text with the internet heart program found at

Assessment

Part 1.The student will create a heart map using paper/pencil/crayon showing the direction of the blood flow as in pertains to the heart. Part 2. The student will write a story about the blood family's vacation to the land of the heart highlighting thier different stops along the way (ie. ventricle, aorta, etc.)
