Student Learning Objectives
- Students will analyze how religion contributed to the development of these United States.
Students will identify these terms: Mormans, secular,church-state, liberalism, religious pluralism, The First Great Awakening, The Second Great Awakening, The Social Gospel, The First Amendment, Religious tolerance, Religious Intorerance, Anti-Semitism, fundamentalism.
Students will relate religious influence to American,s: Civil and humans rights beliefs, individual responsibility and work ethic, Anti-monarchy and self rule, worker protection, family-centered community.
Activities
- Studnets will make a vocabulary list of the terms found in the objective section of this lesson. The definition will contain information such as who, what, when , where, why and how. The definition will demonstrate the students understating of the term and will be in the students own words.
The Student will write a three page (3) paper that will discuss the variety of religious aspects that have impacted the developement of the United States: religious tolerance, secularism, religious intolerance, religious pluralism, American ethics.
Studnets will research religion in America using texts and the inter-net

Assessment
Kentucky 402 ruberic. 1 to 4 points corresponding to 4 to A grade
3 to B grade, 2 to C grade and 1 to D grade. A Copy of the ruberic will be given to each students.
Additional Comments
Extra concideration will be given to the extensive use of electronic technology. Power point presentations will receive extra credit.
