Student Learning Objectives
- In order to reinforce what the students have learned about fruits and vegetables that are good sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Fiber, the students will create fruits and vegetables and describe their physical and nutritional characteristics.
Activities
- Students will be given a pre-test assessing their awareness of 5 food groups and the food pyramid.
- Students will be introduced to various fruit/vegetable tastes/textures through a taste/feel test.
- Have students create their own fruit or vegetable individually or as a group. Have them fill in the 'My New Food' sheet to describe their food.
- Students wil refer to "5 A Day Adventures" CD for help with nutritional information. This will be done in the "Spectacular Supermarket Search" and "Phyto Parade" modules of the CD.
- Students will create a presentation of their created fruit /vegetable using "Kid Pix" program.

Assessment
Students will select pictures of foods they would select to create a balanced meal (based on the Food Guide Pyramid) for display on a paper plate or place mat.
Students will also present their created fruit/vegetable on a "Kid-Pix" presentation
