- Students will be able to find the zeros of a quadratic equation by factoring, graphing and using a table of values.
Activities
- Introductory Activity:
Teacher demonstration of the three methods of finding the zeros of a quadratic equation. Students will do problems using graph paper and a table, and then by using a graphing calcultor. then .
- Enabling Activity:
(a) Students will work several problems using factoring, graphing and a table of values to find the zeros.
(b) Students will print-out TI-83 split-screen depicting the graph and table of a quadratic equation.
- Culminating Activity:
(a) Students will be assigned a worksheet in which they will be given one of the following pieces of information and then will fill in the remaining information:(1) equation (2) graph (3) table (4) zeros.
(b) Homework assignement: P200 #1-20.
